Ethiopia Logs 184 Covid Infections, 0 Death

Ethiopia has logged 184 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the confirmed total to 472, 232, reported the ministry of health.

More than 6, 600 people were tested to confirm the latest infections, said the ministry issued on Saturday evening.

On the same day, 80 patients have recovered from the acute respiratory disease caused by coronavirus, the ministry said, The recovery country now stands at 455, 935.

Despite a relative increase of recovery on the day, the rate has continued to be outpaced by daily infections pushing the confirmed active cases to climb further.

Ethiopia’s active cases tally has now reached 8,782, up by 104 from the previous day, the report noted.

Thirteen of them are seriously sick and are getting medical attention in hospital, the Ministry of health reported.

The ministry also registered zero Covid-induced fatality on the day as the death toll stays at 7, 513. The East African nation last recorded a covid fatality four days ago on May 25, 2022.

The vaccination pace also remained stagnant as another day passed by with no vaccine offered in the country yet again, according to data from the health officials.

They are, however, under preparation to roll out the third round nationwide vaccine drive, beginning the first week of next month.

Ethiopia has administered close to 29.45mln doses of the Covid-19 vaccine since March 2021. More than 24.5 million people are also fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
