DHL Ethiopian Airlines Logistics Services S.C., the industry pioneer in international air, ocean, and land freight services, has opened a new container freight station in Ethiopia. The new 800-square-meter facility near the Modjo Dry Port offers cost-effective consolidation services.
The opening of this facility coincides with two significant breakthroughs for DHL Global Forwarding in the area: receiving approval from the Ethiopian government for a Container Freight Station (CFS) Consolidation License and launching its digital road freight platform, Saloodo.

By expanding our business, we hope to give Ethiopia a much-needed economic boost. We are confident that the Modjo Dry Port will provide reasonably priced logistical capabilities to help regional trade expand.
Because of the consolidation license, DHL Global Forwarding can now provide less-than-container load (LCL) exports as part of its domestic services. This entails dividing available container space among several carriers to achieve faster shipping times and lower total shipping costs. LTL shipments, a similar service for road freight, are also available at the Modjo Port facility.
DHL Global Forwarding’s digital road freight platform provides shippers and carriers with a dependable, user-friendly interface through which they can optimize costs, routes, cargo, and transit times. Saloodo will facilitate freight transport within Ethiopia as well as to and from Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, and Sudan, four of Ethiopia’s neighbors.
