Senselet Food Processing, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is a potato processing company in Ethiopia producing potato chips. The company aims to become market leader in high quality potato products in Ethiopia with a positive impact on food security. Our developing organization of around 170 people works in the full potato chain from farmer until consumer with the purpose to win through high quality, professionalism and a multicultural social environment. In coming years, we are evolving our company by increasing our farmer reach, increasing our production and product varieties and delivering in more cities in Ethiopia. We aim to be market leader in potato products. We always pay fair prices to all small farmers so that they can grow their businesses. We want to produce the best chips and for that we use the highest international standard production technology from Holland.

Senselet’s factory has been set up in accordance with European standards and knowledge and produces high quality potato crisps, branded as Sun Chips.

 The procurement manager is leading the procurement team (6 colleagues) of Senselet. This team is responsible for all import and export operations and logistics. These include planning and booking sea, air and landside freight from ports of discharge until arrival at Senselet Ethiopia. Engagement with customs and port authorities for clearing of imported goods.

The procurement manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of long-term global sub category sourcing strategies to deliver business performance through the management of all directs and indirect materials and service suppliers, networks and requirements.

The procurement manager is linking the local business into the international Pepsico global procurement organization. Learning, using Pepsico’s experts, leveraging the Global procurement process and best practices to deliver business performance.

Execute strategy over a multi-year horizon and supports the delivery of local Business Unit Annual operating plan (AOP) targets, including Innovation and base business execution, productivity, supply chain initiatives.

Role covers all sourcing categories {i.e., all packaging (i.e., flexible film, corrugates, pallets, etc), oils, grains (i.e. corn), seasonings, IT, Office supplies, Capex, Plant and maintenance spares, import/export logistics, etc.} while leading a team of import/export coordinators, procurement coordinator, technical/procurement buyers

Main accountabilities/Deliverables of the role

  • Assures supply and quality
  • Sources – Packaging, Seasoning, Grains, Oils, Ingredients (Local and Imported), Maintenance spares and equipment, Office Supplies
  • Supports local business to solve any supply issues. Understands and manages the category contract requirements related to supply chain
  • Build Sourcing/Procurement AOP (Volumes, Price, Spend and Productivity)
  • Supports the execution of change projects that are required to deliver productivity targets or support market innovation
  • Supports the execution of local category strategies that create competitive advantage for the business
  • Understands the KPI’s of local suppliers in terms of service, quality, and productivity and provides actionable data to MSO / COE Category leads and buyers to drive supplier performance
  • Supports the MSO / COE Category Lead in the execution of local key productivity initiatives
  • Develop and execute localization strategy across all categories to reduce imports
  • Owns the workstream to localize all direct material suppliers, which includes scouting and understanding the supplier landscape in Ethiopia, facilitation supplier qualifications, developing a supplier development model where needed and supplier relationship management
  • Responsible for identifying and leading resolution to in market supply issues arising from geopolitical conflict, FX or currency access limitations, trade restrictions, etc Analyses the financial implications of local business strategies related to Innovation and Base Business execution and supply chain initiatives and provides actionable insight to ensure appropriate trade-off decisions
  • Executes aligned global procurement sub categories strategies, to create competitive advantages
  • Builds local network to ensure global strategy meets local needs “think globally, act locally”
  • Informs and provides feedback about market and/or category insights
  • Supports the development of a competitive supplier landscape through effective execution of supplier relation management (SRM)
  • Delivers productivity and cash flow targets to deliver business plan
  • Risk Management and Business continuity planning (BCP)
  • Manage all Import and Export operations
  • Contracting and Contract Management with all suppliers

Job Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in Procurement/Supply Chain/ Finance/Business Roles
  • Tertiary qualification (Procurement, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain)
  • Computer literacy
