Ethiopian, Rwandan FMs Discuss Bilateral Relations

Foreign Ministers of Ethiopia and Rwanda on Wednesday discussed areas of cooperation to boost the bilateral ties between the two African countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen met with his Rwandan counterpart, Vincent Biruta, at his office in Addis Ababa.

During their discussion, the Ministry of Foreign affairs said in a statement that Demeke reiterated the longstanding relations between the two countries.

The minister noted the need to scale up ties between Ethiopia and Rwanda through various engagements.

The Deputy Prime Minister also briefed his Rwandan counterpart on current developments in Ethiopia.

The the Rwandan foreign ministerr, on his part, said the relationship between the two nations is demonstrated through a solid partnership that goes beyond formal friendships.

He stated that Rwanda wants to see a united and strong Ethiopia and underlined the possibilities for closer cooperation between the two nations.

The two sides agreed to hold a joint ministerial meeting soon at the end of their discussion.
