Ethiopia is about to start exporting minced donkey meat to China
Rong Chang, a donkey slaughter house in Asela, has announced that Ethiopia is completing preparations to export minced donkey meat to foreign countries.
Chichi Aman, the organization’s coordinator, told to Ethio Negari that Ethiopia used to export donkey meat to East Asian countries without adding any value to it, but in recent times, the demand for the product has decreased in the international market.
As a result, he pointed out that donkey meat was not exported to foreign countries in the last six months.
He also stated that Ethiopia has not received income from donkey meat export in the last six months.
In order to solve this problem, preparations have been made to send ground donkey meat to Hong Kong, China, and to make Ethiopia benefit from the sector, Mr. Chichi said.
Currently, arrangements are being made for the installation of machinery and human resources to carry out this work.
It is believed that bringing donkey meat to the foreign market will increase the income of foreign exchange from the sale of one kilo of donkey meat to four US dollars.
