Ambassador Ayele Lire appointed as Ethiopia’s permanent envoy to the African Union

Addis Ababa, EN, Feb 9,2023:- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ambassador Ayele submitted his credentials to the African Union Commission Commissioner Musa Faki.

Ambassador Ayele was appointed as Ethiopia’s permanent envoy to the African Union, following the appointment of Ambassador Tesfaye Yilma as Ethiopia’s ambassador to the United Nations.

The new permanent envoy is a career diplomat who has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for several years.

Ambassador Taye Atskeselase, who has served as Ethiopia’s ambassador to the United Nations for the past four years, has been appointed as an adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

After Ethiopia signed a peace agreement to end the war in northern Ethiopia, the diplomatic pressure is decreasing.

As a result, Ethiopia’s ambassadors who were serving in different countries called Addis Ababa and giving them new assignments, the newly appointed ambassadors are also traveling to their assigned countries.
