Addis Ababa, ET, 16 February 2023:- Ababa police arrested more than 400 people in one month
Addis Ababa Police Commission announced today that it has arrested more than 400 individuals suspected of crimes since last January alone.
In addition to the individuals arrested in the recent operations, the city police have seized a number of stolen properties, including illegal weapons.
Addis Ababa Police Crime and Traffic Accident Investigation Department Deputy Commissioner Hasan Negash has stated that his organization is working to make the city free from crime by taking legal action against various crimes and other security threats that have recently become a threat to the public in the city
The Commissioner added that apart from the suspects who directly commit the crime, the individuals who receive properties obtained through robbery and theft have been researched and the operation has been carried out against them as well. He also said that, stolen vehicles, many vehicle spare parts, electronic equipment, construction materials, infrastructure resources, various weapons, contraband and other assets were seized at the operations carried out under this special plan.
He also stated that the implementation of the special plan has been taking place since last January, and it has been pointed out that 438 suspects have been arrested so far and are being investigated.
