Journalist Meaza Muhammad won the 2023 “International Heroic Women Award”.

Teacher, journalist and activist Meaza Muhammad is the winner of the 2023 “International Women of Courage/IWOC Awards”.

“International Heroic Women Award” is an award given to women who have shown exceptional strength, bravery and leadership skills in order for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality and women’s benefits to be respected and prevailed all over the world.

The award is organized by the US Department of State and will be held for the 17th time this year.

So far, it has recognized more than 180 heroic women from 80 countries.

This year’s award will recognize 11 heroic women and one women’s group from four continents.

The women selected for the award are nominated by American embassies and consulates in each country. The final winners will be selected by US State Department officials and experts.

The winners of the award will travel to different American cities and discuss with the leaders of women’s organizations in the program called “International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)”.

The other winners of the 2023 “International Women of Courage/IWOC Awards” are Dr. Zakaria Hikmet from Afghanistan, Alba Ruda from Argentina, Prof. Daniela Darlan – from the Central African Republic, Doris Rios from Costa Rica, Amami Mohamed.
