US Secretary of state Anthony Blinken arrives in Ethiopia

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has started his African tour in Ethiopia.

Anthony Blinken will visit Ethiopia and Niger during his current tour of Africa.

During his time in Addis Ababa, Blinken will discuss with the Ethiopian authorities regarding the implementation of the peace agreement signed in Pretoria, South Africa.

In addition, he will meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, civil society and political leaders in Ethiopia.

Anthony Blinken’s visit to Ethiopia will contribute to the improvement of relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed participated in the US-Africa summit held in Washington last November.

President Joe Biden has chosen Ervin Joseph Massinga to be the US Ambassador to Ethiopia.

The US has suspended aid and loans to Ethiopia because of the war broke out in northern Ethiopia.

Following the signing of the peace agreement, Washington will release the loan and aid budget that had imposed on Ethiopia.
