100 Ethiopian killed in a week alone

According to Ethiopia peace ovservatory, 100 people were killed due to political conflicts in various areas.

Starting from June 6-10/2023, 100 Ethiopian have been killed.

According to the weekly report issued by the institution called “Ethiopia Peace Observatory”, which was established by a humanitarian organization called “The Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project”, which is known for collecting and analyzing international conflict situation and event data, to do this work in Ethiopia.

The organization announced that, 35 of the 100 people killed in the week were civilians.

The weekly report stated that, 19 political conflicts occurred in various regions in a week.

The report pointed out that most conflicts happened especially in the Amhara and Oromia regions and there were fighting between the government security forces and armed groups.

While peaceful conditions observed in other regions, instability continues in Amhara and oromia regions.

The institute also announced that the political conflicts and instability in the Amhara region are related to the government’s actions against “extremist forces”.

The institute’s weekly report that fighting and attacks on civilians in Oromia region continues.

Seven fighting incidents have been occured in a week between the government forces and oromia liberation army commonly known as “Oneg-Shene” in oromia region.

In one year from June 2022 to June 2023, 5,676 deaths were reported due to 1,103 political conflicts in Ethiopia.

Among the dead, 2,587 were reported as a result of attacks on civilians.
