PM Abiy Ahmed invited to visits Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in the history of bilateral relations.

He invited the Prime Minister to visit Ukraine while informing the interlocutor that Ukraine has supplied almost 300 thousand tons of food to Ethiopia under the Black Sea Grain Initiative and another 90 thousand tons of grain under a separate grain From Ukraine initiative.

There is no official statement from Ethiopia whether PM Abiy accepted the invitation from Ukraine or not.

Russia’s war in Ukraine, which began as a one-week special operation, has lasts more than 500 days.


Many African countries, including Ethiopia, repeatedly abstained from voting at the UN meeting called for Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine and to condemn the war.


Russia-Africa leaders summit will takes place next week in Petersburg.


According to Russia ministry of foreign minister, US and other Ukraine allies are influencing African leaders to not participate in the Russia-Africa summit.
