Ethiopia secures nine medals at Budapest world Athletics Championships

The 19th World Athletics Championships, which were held from August 19 to 27, 2023 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, have ended.

Including Ethiopia, 195 countries participated in this championship , but only 46 countries were able to get medals.

2,100 athletes competed in this competition from the qualifiers to the final, 50 athletes won gold, 48 silver and 50 bronze medals for their country.

More than 400,000 spectators entered the stadium and watched the champions, and stated that Hungary organized a bright and airy competition.

Organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations, this championship was held in 52 events, and the United States finished on top.

US athletes won 12 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze for a total of 29 medals in this championship.

Canada finished second in the medal count with 4 golds and 2 silvers for a total of six medals, while Spain finished third with 4 golds and one silver for a total of five medals.

The Caribbean country Jamaica finished fourth with 3 gold, five silver and four bronze medals in a total of 12 medals, while Kenya finished fifth in the world with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals in a total of 12 medals.

Ethiopia finished with two gold, four silver and three bronze medals, with a total of 9 medals, sixth in the world and second in Africa, the World Athletics Federation announced on its website.
