China commences to build a center of technological excellence in Ethiopia

The construction of this technological excellence center will cost nine billion birr

The Ethiopian Electricity Service and the Chinese Civil Engineering Corporation have signed a contract document to build a technology excellence center.

The construction of the center of excellence will be built on the premises of the institute located in Kotebe, Addis Ababa and 9.3 billion birr has been allocated for the project.

The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Electricity Service, Shiferaw Telila and the Executive Managing Director of China Civil Engineering Corporation’s Ethiopian branch, Wu Jui.

Mr Shiferaw stated that when the center is completed, it will make the service provided to customers reliable, efficient and modern in line with modern technology.

Wu Juin, on the other hand, confirmed that they will complete the construction of the center on schedule and hand it over with quality.

The center will have electrical technology vocational manpower training, a research and excellence center, national distribution SCADA control center, distribution equipment testing and laboratory facilities.

A modern meeting hall, bedrooms for trainees and guests, a cafeteria and various sports facilities, according to the electricity service information.

The center is said to include nine buildings of different widths and heights, a football field according to FIFA standards, a running track, a ground tennis court, volleyball, handball, basketball and a gym.
