Ethiopian Airlines Wins ‘Outstanding Tourism Transportation Award’ at Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF)

Ethiopian Airlines announced its latest achievement, being honored with the prestigious ‘Outstanding Tourism Transportation Award’ at the 2024 Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF) in Gaborone, Botswana.

This recognition celebrates transportation providers that demonstrate exceptional service quality while maintaining sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The award highlights Ethiopian Airlines’ excellence in reliable and efficient service across Africa, including remote tourism destinations.

It is a reflection of the airline’s dedication to offering seamless travel experiences while pioneering sustainable practices in aviation.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.

“This recognition affirms our unwavering commitment to providing top-tier service to our passengers and promoting sustainable tourism across Africa.

As Africa’s largest network operator, our vision is to connect Africa with the world, and this acknowledgment from ATLF inspires us to aim even higher.”

The Africa Tourism Leadership Forum serves as a key Pan-African platform that brings together leaders in travel, tourism, hospitality, and aviation to discuss and develop strategies that boost intra-African tourism.

The ATLF Awards are known for recognizing African-driven innovation and excellence in the travel and tourism industries.

Ethiopian Airlines has been at the forefront of promoting tourism through its subsidiary, Ethiopian Holidays, offering a wide range of travel packages that complement its extensive destination network. This strengthens the synergy between air transport and tourism across the continent.

With a history spanning over seventy-eight years, Ethiopian Airlines is one of the fastest-growing and most successful carriers in the world.

The airline operates the youngest and most modern fleet across more than 150 destinations, encompassing both passenger and cargo services on five continents.

Its fleet includes cutting-edge, eco-friendly aircraft such as Boeing 737s, 777s, 787s, Airbus A350-900s, and De Havilland Q400s.

Ethiopian Airlines has also expanded its influence through a multi-hub strategy, with hubs in Lomé, Togo (via ASKY Airlines), Lilongwe, Malawi (through Malawi Airlines), and Lusaka, Zambia (in partnership with Zambia Airways).

Having achieved its Vision 2025 plan ahead of schedule, the airline is now focused on its Vision 2035, a 15-year strategic plan that aims to position it among the top 20 global aviation groups.

The airline’s accomplishments are widely recognized, having won numerous awards, including Skytrax’s ‘Best Airline in Africa Award’ for seven consecutive years.

As a member of the Star Alliance since 2011, Ethiopian Airlines has witnessed exponential growth, tripling its success over the past decade.

This latest accolade further cements Ethiopian Airlines’ status as a leader in African aviation, committed to excellence in both service and sustainability.
