The Opportunity:
Plan International Ethiopia is looking to hire a Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Coordinator for the “PlayMatters and UNICEF Project.” The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of Plan International’s strategy by promoting gender equality and inclusion across all project activities. Specifically, you will help strengthen the empowerment of girls, women, and people with disabilities, working to close gender gaps and combat discrimination. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the integration of gender-transformative approaches in the PlayMatters and UNICEF projects.
  • Participating in the design and development of project proposals, ensuring that gender and inclusion objectives and indicators are included.
  • Providing capacity-building training for Plan International and partner organization staff.
  • Strengthening networks and partnerships with other organizations and NGOs with similar missions related to gender and inclusion.
  • Monitoring the progress of gender and inclusion initiatives, ensuring they are implemented as planned.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Social Psychology, Social Anthropology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in gender-transformative programming.
  • Strong expertise in intersectionality and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical support and oversight to education programs.
  • Experience in capacity development, including facilitation and training of project staff.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Previous experience working with international organizations and local partners is preferred.

2. Job Title: Education Officer

Location: Afar, Ewa, Ethiopia

The Opportunity:
Plan International Ethiopia is seeking an Education Officer to support the implementation of a critical education project in response to the ongoing needs in the region. The Education Officer will be responsible for coordinating project activities, ensuring they are carried out in a timely and effective manner. You will collaborate with response teams, Plan International staff, and technical experts in sectors such as protection and education to address urgent child education needs. Additionally, you will engage in technical coordination, advocacy, and partnership-building with Woreda-specific education clusters and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate project activities to ensure a rapid and proportionate response to the educational needs of children.
  • Provide technical support to education cluster activities and other sector agencies involved in the project.
  • Participate in school mobilization and teacher training initiatives.
  • Play an active role in advocating for the education needs of displaced children.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to develop a longer-term response to education challenges.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Pedagogy, Psychology, or Social Sciences.
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in an education role, ideally in an emergency or IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) setting.
  • Experience coordinating education responses during emergencies, including participation in education clusters.
  • Strong knowledge of both formal and non-formal education frameworks.

3. Job Title: Child Protection in Emergency Officer

Location: Adwa, Adigrat, Tigray, Ethiopia

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for child protection activities, including case management and advocacy.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection minimum standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other sectors and partners to ensure a holistic approach to child protection.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, including donors and local government agencies.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience, including both emergency and development programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of child protection principles, case management, and child development.
