The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BDPfA), established nearly 30 years ago, has been a fundamental framework guiding global efforts toward gender equality.
As we approach the 30th anniversary of this milestone, it is essential that young people from all regions of Africa actively engage in carrying forward this important work.
Youth today continue to face persistent gender inequalities and barriers to meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
The BDPfA is as relevant now as it was three decades ago, but the voices of young leaders are critical in addressing the challenges that remain.
In response, we are organizing a series of workshops aimed at empowering young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively contribute to the upcoming Beijing+30 (B+30) Africa Regional Review.
These workshops will focus on linking the global framework of the BDPfA to regional issues, enabling young advocates to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
FEMNET, in collaboration with the African Union Commission, UNFPA, UNDP, UNECA, and UN Women, is calling on interested youth from across Africa to participate in this process.

The process will begin with two virtual workshops designed to engage a broad spectrum of African youth ahead of the B+30 Regional Review.
These virtual workshops will be followed by an in-person consultation, during which participants will help shape and present the Youth Africa position on gender equality.
To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, contributions can be submitted in a variety of formats. Participants may choose to provide their input in written form or, if preferred, in alternative formats such as audio or video submissions, which can be uploaded through the form’s file upload feature.
