Cement factories cut production due to security problems in Ethiopia

Kuyo Cement and Habesha Cement Factory have stopped production due to security problems.

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2022, Kuyo Cement Factory planned to produce 64,631 tons of cement, but it was able to produce only 19,934,64 tons or 30.84 percent.

It has been stated that the factory was forced to completely stop production due to the security problems, Ethio trade & Investment media reported.

Habesha Cement, on the other hand, planned to produce 164,262 tons of cement in the last three months and was able to achieve only 64,664 tons or 39.37 percent of the plan.

It is known that the two factories have stopped production due to security problems.

In the quarterly review of the cement factories, it was realized that the security problems in the raw material production areas, the lack of spare parts due to the lack of foreign exchange, had a negative impact on the production process of the factories.

The price cement is inflating from time to time and currently, 100kg of cement is selling by 2,000 birr in black market.
