According to the church’s lawyers, the police have requested a 14-day investigation period against the members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

The police arrested the devotees, saying, “I found them forming an informal organization to attack the constitution with terrorist activities.”

The lawyers stated that seven suspects have been released on bail, while 5 suspects, including Orthodox preacher Mehratab Asfa, have been given an 8-day remand.

In spite of this, Deacon Yosef Ketema, a member of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church’s Afan Oromo language journalist was arrested by the government’s security forces yesterday, the media organization reported.

Journalist Joseph was arrested by the security forces while he was on a report in Mekanisa area of ​​Addis Ababa.
