Ethiopia and the African Development Fund have signed a development support agreement worth $84.3 million (4.5 billion birr) to be used for wheat production and productivity improvement. Of the development support, $54 million from the African Development Fund, $20 million from the Dutch government, and $10.3 million were given by other organizations. The grants is used to improve the production and productivity of smallholder wheat farmers, and to achieve this, the support is used to produce environmentally friendly wheat, develop market infrastructure and linkages, and manage projects in the sector.
