African Ministers Discuss Climate Initiatives ahead of COP27

Developed economies are urged to uphold their pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support vulnerable nations efforts to transition towards green energy. The call was made on the opening day of a three-day African Regional Roundtable on Climate Initiatives on Wednesday. Twenty countries are responsible for 80% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions and Africa accounts for only 2 to 3%. Experts urge African governments to increase investments in agriculture

Experts participating at a high-level meeting on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) called on governments to enhance investments in the agriculture sector and expedite the implementation of the Malabo Declaration. At the experts’ review meeting that is being held in Dakar, Senegal various stakeholders are reviewing the status of the National Agriculture Investment Plans (NAIPs).
