The Ethiopian Anti-Doping Authority announced that it has been investigating the matter by imposing a temporary ban on the suspected athletes. The Authority has confirmed that the banned athletes, athlete Shume Tafa Dessita and athlete Mengestu Bekele Tedecha, committed violations of the law by using prohibited stimulants or doping. According to this, the long-distance runner, Shume Tafa Dessita, used a prohibited substance called 5-methylhexan-2-amine, and his results in the competition should be cancelled and suspended for four (4) years from May 25, 2023.  It is stated that he has been sentenced to not participate in any sports competition.
