All God’s Children International (AGCI) is non-governmental organization that implements orphan care in Ethiopia including education sponsorship program and reunification/reintegration program. AGCI intends to hire Assistant Accountant on contract basis
Job Summary
Assistant Accountant is responsible for financial documents preparation and plays assistance role in overall financial management of AGCI including financial accounting and reporting, tax clearance, and annual audit process. Also, the incumbent will assist in procurement process and property records.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the Finance and Administration Director in completing basic bookkeeping, clerical and accounting tasks for AGCI.
- Collaborate with Finance and Administration Director and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.
- Maintain ledgers and daily financial transactions.
- Create and reconcile financial documents such as bills, invoices, pay-orders, payables, receivables and purchases.
- Identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
- Manage payroll activities and release salaries.
- Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors and vendors.
- Verify payments and deposits made through the AGCI account and coordinate with the bank.
- Assist in preparation of periodical and annual financial reports.
- Undertake daily financial activities, organizing financial documentation including monthly bank statements, receipts, payroll, tax clearance and controlling financial related risk;
- Oversee purchases, ensuring the collection of performs;
- Ensure purchases are made at companies or service providers with appropriate receipts;
- Analyze and reconcile supplier’s invoices for all ordered and supplied goods and services;
- Ensure ordered services and goods are provided satisfactorily as per the specifications and subsequent billing for such services received accurately and on a timely manner;
- Maintain property records and reconcile it with physical existence of the property;
- Maintain an up to date and easily accessible filing system for all procurement documents;
- Excellent knowledge of financial report, IFRS knowledge reporting is advantage.
- Perform other tasks within the scope of his/her work, as assigned by the Finance and Administration Director.
Reports To: Finance and Administration Director
Status: Full-Time Staff
Terms and Conditions
Terms of Employment: One-year contract, including 45 days probation period, with possibility of renewal, based on performance and availability of fund
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- BA degree in accounting with related work experience of at least of three years;
- Knowledge of charitable finance regulations in Ethiopia and key strategic finance reporting;
- Proven experience of running project as well as small finance function including payroll, tax, payments, banking arrangements, accounts preparation and audit and other accounting transactions, adhering to proper controls and processes;
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of cash flow analysis;
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritize work, handle pressure and take day-to-day activities under direct supervision of Finance and Administration Director;
- Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to participate in collective, non-hierarchical decision making within small team and all staff environments;
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member;
- Ability to speak and write reports in both Amharic and English; and
- Computer proficiency in basic software such as words, excel, etc. and accounting software.
