To be clear, I support the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party!’ Musk tweeted tonight. I’m also buying Manchester United ur welcome [sic].’
Elon Musk tweets, ‘he’s BUYING Manchester United,’ after being urged to abandon his $41 billion bid to take over Twitter and save the Premier League club this year.
Elon Musk sent shockwaves through social media after tweeting ‘he’s buying Manchester United’ on Tuesday night. Earlier this year, desperate fans urged the world’s richest man to buy the Premier League club.
Musk, 51, who owns Tesla and Space X and has a net worth of around $265 billion (£200 billion), made a bid for Twitter in the region of $41 billion (£31 billion) in April, but United fans wanted him to spend his money on their struggling team.
Musk has a history of making irreverent tweets, and his comment appears to be in jest, with the declaration of intent to buy United coming out of nowhere today. It is unknown whether he intends to pursue a deal.
