Mining Ministry, SGS Group to jointly Build $50mln-Geochemistry Lab

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has entered into an agreement with the General Society of Surveillance (SGS) Group to develop a mineral assessment and research laboratory in Ethiopia.

Mining minister Takele Uma said the geochemistry facility will be built at the cost of 50 million USD

The Minister said the lab will enable the mining sector to enhance the quality of export products and increase Ethiopia’s competitiveness in the global minerals market.

The Ministry and SGS Group signed the agreement to build the lab at the Mining and Technology International Expo (MINTEX 2022).

Ethiopia’s first-ever mining expo (MINTEX) opened at Addis Ababa Millennium Hall on Thursday.

More than 270 foreign and domestic manufacturers are promoting their products & services at the expo.
