African Union Peace Negotiations Team visits Tigray’s Capital

Ambassadors of 32 countries are visiting Mekele city.

Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development of East Africa, Workneh Gebeyehu (Dr.), former Kenyan President Ahuru Kenyatta and ambassadors of various countries are visiting Mekele.

The ambassadors of various European and African countries, including England, were welcomed by the officials of the Tigray region when they arrived at the Mekele Alula Abanega International Airport today.

In addition to the ambassadors who arrived in Mekele, it is reported that the Minister of Justice Gideon Timothios (Dr.) also in the team.

The joint monitoring and verification team established to implement the peace agreement reached between the TPLF and the federal government requires the presence of an IGAD representative, so IGAD secretary general and former Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta has been included.

The ambassadors are expected to discuss the peace agreement and its implementation during their stay in Mekelle.
