Russia announces not to politicise the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia said that, while the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is a development issue, no need to politicise it.
The Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Yegni Terki, told Ethio FM that his government is free and independent on the dam.
The ambassador stated that Moscow has good relations with Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt, and that he will not accept the effort to make the dam a political issue.
He recalled that Russia opposed the dam negotiation process when it went to the Security Council.
He also stated that the Russian government supports Ethiopia’s development plan.
The Russian said that the three countries should resolve the dispute around the dam in a peaceful way.
The Great Renaissance Dam Coordination Project Office recently announced that the construction of the dam has reached 88 percent.
