Ethiopia revokes TPLF from terrorist List

Ethiopia named TPLF as terrorist organization on May, 2021.

The House of People’s Representatives passed a majority vote to unlist the People’s Liberation Army of Tigray (TPLF) from the terrorist organization.

In a special meeting held today, the council unanimously approved the proposal to revoke TPLF from the list of terrorists.

The signing of a peace agreement between the Ethiopian government and the TPLF in Pretoria, South Africa on November 2, 2022, in order to provide a peaceful solution to the war in the north.

According to the signed peace agreement, works have been carried out by the federal government and the TPLF.

The agreement allowed the federal government to start basic services in Tigray region and provide humanitarian aid to the victims.

TPLF gathered the militants to a camp and handed over heavy weapons to the national defense army.

Following this, the House of People’s Representatives decided to unlist TPLF from terrorist organization.

Out of 280 members of parliament 214 voted in favour
and 61 against. And also Five members of the council abstained.

The war broke out after TPLF attacked the National Defense Army base in Northern Command in Tigray.

Following this the law makers listed TPLF as terrorist organization in May 2021.
