A lightning killed two teenagers aged five and seven years in southern Ethiopia.
The teenagers were on their way to fetch water in southern region of Bench Sheko Zone, Mizan Amman city.
The police commission of the region said that, two teenagers died due to the lightning caused by the heavy rain last Sunday April 23/2023.
The accident took place when three children went to the river to fetch water when it rained and they sat on a rock under a tree to take shelter.
The police announced that, the two children died due to this lightning accident.
In recent years, the number of people dying in Ethiopia due to lightning has been increasing.
Ethiopian Meteorology Institute has stated that, there is unseasonal rain in most areas of the country and warned that heavy rains, floods and lightning may occur in southern and central Ethiopia.
