Ethio Telecom Earns 52 billion Birr

One of the biggest telecom companies in Africa, Ethio Telecom has earned more than 52 billion birr in the last nine months.

The state owned organization presented its nine-month plan for the fiscal year to the House of Representatives.

According to the CEO of the company, Frehiwot Tamru, said that, Ethio Telecom has earned 52 billion birr in the last nine months.

The CEO also said that, the company has earned 103 million dollars in revenue from the services it provides from abroad customers.

Due to a mechanisms that turning government and commercial institutions implement their payment system with Tele Birr, more than 30.5 million users have been created.

The executive said that more than 394 billion birr transactions were done through Tele birr digital application.

The CEO explained that the restriction imposed on the Internet does not apply to the institution and the restriction imposed by the government body.

In Ethiopia, since the beginning of last February, restrictions have been placed on internet services such as Facebook, Messenger, Telegram and Tiktok.

Ethio Telecom has faced more than 31 billion birr in foreign currency losses in the last five years.

Ethio Telecom is conducting feasibility studies to expand its service in African countries and signed a bilateral agreement with the government of South Sudan last year.
