Ethiopian Airlines commences New Cargo Flight to Casablanca, Morocco

Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its cargo services by introducing a new flight route to Casablanca, Morocco, bringing the total number of cargo destinations in Africa to 35.

The newly launched cargo flight to Casablanca utilizes a Boeing 777-200F freighter boasting a remarkable payload capacity exceeding 100 tons.

In a statement, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are delighted to commence a new cargo flight service to Casablanca, Morocco.” This development marks the airline’s commitment to enhancing its cargo services while simultaneously reaffirming its dedication to providing reliable and efficient solutions in the cargo industry.

Ethiopian Airlines stands as a pioneering force in Africa, leading the continent with the highest number of cargo flight destinations and playing a pivotal role in the global air cargo service sector.

The airline currently serves over 63 cities in Africa, solidifying its position as the carrier with the most extensive reach across the continent.

Founded in December 1945, Ethiopian Airlines made its inaugural flight to Cairo, Egypt, marking the beginning of a storied history.

Mr. Mesfin Tasew, who attended the Dubai Airshow in November 2023, announced the airline’s plans to acquire 78 new aircraft from both Boeing and Airbus, showcasing its commitment to modernizing and expanding its fleet.

Notably, Ethiopian Airlines accommodated 13 million passengers in 2022 and reported a profit of $6 billion. With a current fleet comprising 145 aircraft, the CEO disclosed plans to procure an additional 130 aircraft, aligning with the airline’s ambitious 2035 expansion strategy.

As Ethiopian Airlines continues to soar above the skies of Africa, its strategic initiatives, extensive network, and commitment to growth position it as a formidable player in the aviation industry, contributing significantly to the continent’s air transportation landscape.

Before 20 days, Ethiopian Airlines, announced a landmark $450 million loan agreement that will finance five new Boeing aircraft: three Boeing 737-8 and two Boeing 777F (Cargo).

The loan will be secured against the value of the five planes and has been arranged exclusively by Citi’s Corporate Banking and Export Agency and Finance teams.
