1. Job Title: Livelihood Diversification and Financial Inclusion Project Officer
Location: Harar
Qualifications:
- Education: BA/BSc degree in Economics, Cooperative and Marketing Development, Rural Development, International Development, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Sociology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a BA/BSc degree, or 5 years of experience with a diploma.
- For candidates with a postgraduate degree, at least 1 year of relevant experience is required.
- Experience working with NGOs is advantageous.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in livelihood diversification, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), Rural Savings and Credit Cooperatives (RUSACCO), marketing cooperatives, youth employment, and resilience programs.
- Proven ability to effectively plan, organize, implement, and monitor projects related to livelihood diversification, non-farming income-generating activities (IGAs), financial inclusion, rural micro-finance, SACCOs, and business development.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating gender, protection, and diversity considerations into emergency response programs.
- Technical proficiency in identifying and selecting viable economic opportunities and IGAs in rural contexts, including agribusiness, VSLA, RUSACCO, and marketing cooperatives.
- Strong communication and mobilization skills for engaging with local communities, refugee populations, and government partners.
- Experience in project planning and implementation.
- Proficiency in proposal and report writing.
- Excellent representational skills and effective communication abilities with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and donors.
- Leadership capacity in managing field teams, including team building, maintaining morale, and fostering a shared vision.
- Experience working in diverse settings, including with internally displaced persons (IDPs).
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, IRC members, and external partners.
- Commitment to valuing diversity and recognizing it as a source of strength.
- Good listening skills and approachability.
Language Skills:
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of the local language is advantageous.
