Description: Position Summary:
Under overall supervision of Laboratory Manager and direct supervision of Laboratory Supervisor, employee performs phlebotomy and routine laboratory tests and maintains records. Work is performed under general supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Specimen Collection, Handling, and Processing:
Ø Performs phlebotomy and processing of specimens for in house test and to be sent to outside labs.
Ø Receives specimens from wards and/or phlebotomy.
Ø Process specimens including receiving, sorting, accessioning and storing.
Ø Follows established procedures when processing specimens for analysis. II. Test Performance:
Ø Notifies Laboratory supervisor/ Laboratory Manager of problems occurring during the test performance that would affect patient test results.
III. Test Result Reporting:
Ø Ensure all critical results have been called and documented by workstations.
Ø Record results in the log book.
IV. Instrument Related Responsibility:
Ø Ensures proper functioning of instruments before release of patient results.
Ø Perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment as scheduled and documented. ob Requirement
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Ø Minimum 2 yeas of experience with Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology area with professional license as a Junior Medical Laboratory Technologist approved by Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority of Ethiopia.
