Sifan Hasan won London Marathon 2023
Sifan Hassan, who was born in Ethiopia and is a Netherland citizen, won the London marathon.
Sifan, who participated in the marathon for the first time, completed the distance in 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 37 microseconds.
Ethiopia’s Megertu Alemu came in second, and Jepchurch Perez from Kenya came in third.
Almaz Ayana, who was waiting at a distance, finished her race in seventh place.
In the men’s marathon race, Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum finished in the first rank in 2:01:25, while another Kenyan, Geoffrey Kamworor, was second and Ethiopian Tamrat Tola was third.
Liul Gebreslase and Seifu Tura are the other Ethiopian athletes who finished fourth and fifth.
Mo Farah finished Ninth and Kenenisa Bekele, who was expected in the competition, also did not finish the distance.
