A grenade kills four boys in Shashemene, Oromia

A bomb that was thrown in the garbage of Shashemene city of Oromia region killed four and injured two children.

The children were picking up used plastics when the bomb exploded in the garbage, the police said.

In addition to killing four children, two more children were injured and taken to the hospital.

Police informed that three of the dead children were members of the same family.

On the other hand, a road connecting the Amhara region to the country’s capital city is closed due to, a road connecting the Amhara region to the country’s capital city is closed due to people strikes.

The road from Debre Markos to Denbecha in the Amhara region has been closed due to protests.

Residents said the road leading from Debre Markos to Denbecha in Gojam of Amara Region was closed around Ammanuel.

The road has been completely closed since early this morning because more than 60 people who were travelling from Addis Ababa to Bahirdar were recently kidnapped by Oromo Liberation Army militants last Saturday around Gebre Gurcha city in Oromia.

These passengers, who were kidnapped by the militants, are being asked for more than 500 thousand birr each as ransom.

The residents said they have closed the road until the government releases the hostages.
