US believes 350,000 People lost their life in Ethiopia’s war

US revokes Ethiopia from Gross human rights violators countries list.

United States named Ethiopia as one of the worst human rights violators after the outbreak of war in northern Ethiopia

Following this, Washington has cut off the development support it used to give to Ethiopia.

According to the report of Foreign Policy, the United States has come to the position that Ethiopia is not a country where serious human rights violations are currently taking place.

Due to the Covid-19, war and the slowdown in international trade, Ethiopia, like other countries, had already asked for a reschedules in the loan repayment period.

However, due to the US embargo on Ethiopia, the World Bank and the IMF were unable to provide Ethiopia with the financial assistance they provided to many developing countries.

Washington’s current decision will create an opportunity for Ethiopia’s long-delayed loan repayment transition and new loans and financial support.

Ethiopia is seen as a key partner to achieve Washington’s interests in East Africa, and the war in northern Ethiopia has damaged the relationship between the two countries.

Many world institutions state that the war in northern Ethiopia has claimed the lives of more than 600,000 citizens.

The United States believes that this war has killed 350,000 people, Foreign Policy said in the report.
