UNESCO inscribes two sites of Ethiopia as world hermitages

The Bale Mountains and Gedeo landscape are registered as world heritage by UNESCO. Ethiopia has increased the number of heritage sites registered by UNESCO to 11 and is the only one in Africa. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO is holding its 45th session in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ethiopian Wildlife Protection Authority has stated that more than 200 hectares of the Babile Elephant Sanctuary's forest have been destroyed.  The park is located in the eastern parts of Ethiopia and a home to more than 300 elephants and other wild animals. China is the major donkey meat destination and the demand is increasing drastically. According to Ethiopia Animal Authority, in the 2022/23 Ethiopia earned $300,000 by exporting donkey meat to Hong Kong. The authority deputy head Dr. Sahlu Mulu said that, apart from donkey meat, countries like China use donkey skin extensively for medicine, so the meat product was sent to Hong Kong. Ethiopia and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) signed a 10 million dollar aid agreement in Addis Ababa. The financial assistance agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Finance, Sumerita Sewasew, and the head of KOICA in Ethiopia, Lee Byunghwa. The financial support is to be used to modernize Ethiopian agriculture, especially to increase the productivity of milk and milk products.
